AIDFI who joined the GlobalGiving platform back in September 2021 was contacted by GlobalGiving last June 2022 to propose a project from funds they raised for the Typhoon Rai local name "Odette" victims. The super typhoon hit several Philippine provinces in December 2021. It was proposed to distribute 1,000 water filters equally divided among 5 selected municipalities in Negros Occidental, which were Hinoba-an, Sipalay, Kabankalan, Candoni, and Moises Padilla.
On August 11, AIDFI and the LGU of Sipalay, distributed 200 tabletop water filters. This was divided to 12 household families per barangay who were identified and provided with water filters. A total of 1,167 people will benefit from clean drinking water.
The following day, the AIDFI team with the LGU of Hinobaan Municipal Mayor, Daph Anthony V. Reliquias, together with Sangguniang Bayan Members -SB Jason Tupas, SB Francisco Jose Bilbao, SB Ryan Cardinal, SB Burke Gayomale, and PB Johnny Ray Reliquias joined in the distribution of 200 tabletop water filters in Brgy. Dalaguete. The filters will ensure clean and safe drinking water for 767 beneficiaries.
AIDFI was then joined by Mayor Benjie Miranda, and the 28 elementary schools of Kabankalan last September 5 received 200 tabletop water filters to ensure clean and safe drinking water for the students and teachers.
After distributing tabletop water filters in Kabankalan City last September 5. The following day AIDFI was joined again by the LGU of Candoni in distributing another 200 tabletop water filters to selected beneficiaries from different barangays in their municipality.
Then last November 3, AIDFI Operations Manager Cherie Gomez and Community Development Coordinator Deit Mar Bernadez together with Moises Padilla's Mayor Hon. Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, Vice-mayor Ian Villaflor, and members of the municipal council distributed 184 water filters to people from selected barangays of Moises Padilla. Initially, 16 water filters were already distributed to a project in So. Mico, Brgy. Inolingan in the municipality last September 23.
In total, more than 5,000 people will benefit from clean and safe drinking water.
